About Bev Mckeown

My name is Bev McKeown, and I like to ride and compete in dressage and working equitation (horseback riding). In addition, I am an avid animal lover, and I love cooking. But, most of all, I love feeling good on the inside and out. This love has taken me on the journey of creating Pilates Comes To You.

I am very passionate about Pilates Comes To You. It became established 4 1/2 years ago when I began teaching people in my home and at their homes. It is very dear to my heart! My love of pilates started after I experienced a series of personal challenges.

I began to attend one weekly clinic, and one weekly pilates session after I underwent a spinal fusion eight years ago, which occurred from several falls from horses.

I continued with my progression of pilates through another horse accident where I broke my C6 (Neck) and broke my scapula, two ribs, and my wrist. Through extensive pilates training and studying to teach pilates, I managed to again get on my horse and live everyday life. Unfortunately, a year after that particular fall, I suffered another horse fall and sustained a “gunshot” fracture to the L2 (lumbar spine). I also again broke my scapula in a different part and broke another rib. The long road to recovery began again with Pilates being my grounding to become stronger before again having another horse fall five years ago, where I fractured my pelvis. I feel powerful and have used my recoveries from each accident towards how I work with clients who have had injuries or are in constant pain; this has allowed my clients to feel confident in my teaching methods and understanding of pushing without damage.

My years of working in Pilates Comes To You have given me an enormous understanding of many injuries and issues with the human body; I have seen clients with neck, shoulder, spinal, hip, knee, and ankle issues.

I have studied my Allied Health Assistant Physiotherapy and have also undertaken 120 clinical hours with a local physiotherapist to assist me in being able to help my clients move better, feel stronger and gain confidence in the overall health of their bodies.

I want to support anyone willing to take up the challenge of growing stronger and more flexible again.

My mission

My mission is to help people in our community build strength and stability in their bodies. I want people to know me as someone who helps anyone regardless of age or ability. My facility is for everyone: the young, middle-aged and the elderly. It is for those simply seeking a healthier lifestyle, those needing rehabilitation and healing from injury, or even for building strength as an athlete.

I am confident Wellness Recharge Picton will provide a wellness hub for my clients to benefit from like-minded health professionals that can provide wellness to the mind, body, and soul of my clients.
